ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP

The first time I arrived in Cannon Beach, Oregon, my mind was blown away. It is simply once of the most beautiful spots in the Pacific Northwest and I'm really looking forward to conducting a workshop here in 2017. A couple years ago, I became the first person to capture Bioluminescent Organisms glowing around Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach with the Milky Way. Not only could I see it in the waves, but also in the pools and on the sand. My footsteps would glow blue along the water's edge and when I wanted to warm up my feet I would just walk over to my beach fire for a little bit. I can't say that the conditions will be the same, but their is only one way to find out. We will photograph many places including Haystack Rock, Ecola State Park, Hug Point and Cape of Arches during sunrise, sunset and at night with the Milky Way. This workshop also includes a beach fire at sunset at Haystack Rock!

WORKSHOP INCLUDES

  • Milky Way , star trail and light painting techniques
  • Several shooting locations, each night will have different locations.
  • Meteor Shower Viewing
  • How to plan your shot and where to look for the Milky Way
  • Understanding, shutter speed, f/stop, ISO, white balance and other custom settings
  • How to illuminate a scene for timelapse photography
  • DemoNstrate and shoot time-lapse photography
  • Hikes in Ecola State Park and surrounding beaches

TRAVELING

I would suggest flying into Portland, Oregon where you will have about a 1hr 35 minute drive to the coast. You could also fly into Seattle. Seattle is a longer drive, but you could see a bunch of neat sights along the way down, including the stunning Mount. Rainier! This workshop does not include travel to, from and during the workshop, meals or overnight accommodations.
