ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP
This workshop will focus on waterfalls, fall colors and long exposures during the day, and of course we will have a night shoot or two in there (weather permitting). We will chase the fall colors through vineyards and surrounding backroads including areas around Seneca Lake and Cayuga Lake. Locations such as Watkins Glen State Park and Taughannock Falls are on the list. We will work on composition and exposure while thinking of how we will process them in our digital darkroom.
Autumn signifies a beginning to the end with an explosion of vibrant colors across the landscape that often remind me of a pack of skittles. This beauty doesn't last long and that makes me love it even more. This region has wide open views, rolling hills, lakes, old barns, waterfalls and ton's of vineyards with stunning sunset views, and yes, the wine is great here!
The roads aren't busy, there aren't many traffic lights, but there is lots of open space that makes this one enjoyable destination with tons of photo ops to be had. We will start the afternoon of the 14th and end in the afternoon on the 16th of October 2024.

There are many covered bridges in Vermont to say the least. Waterfalls and Grist Mills also pepper the landscape and many ponds and lakes are surrounded by beautiful fall colors. We will be able to use our drones where permitted to capture the landscape from above in a variety of locations as well. We will also taken advantage of photographing some of these locations at night under moonlit skies. Due to this far northern location we may even get lucky with some northern lights a one night. The moon will set around midnight giving us darker skies if lady aurora shows up!
NEW YORK IN AUTUMN | OCTOBER 2022
Manchester Center will be out meeting location for our first day and we will spend two nights there, The third day we will make our way into northern Vermont taking some amazing scenic drives past farms, covered bridges and waterfalls along our way. The drive up will reveal where the best colors are and we will concentrate in those area's the remaining days after visiting some scenic area's up north. Most of our days will be spent out in the field driving to different locations and visiting quaint country towns with fall colors exploding around every turn. We will get a taste of the entire state and will be rewarded with some of the best fall colors opportunities in Vermont. Vermont is not that big, so we can cover lots of ground in just a short period of time.

LODGING
We will be based off of Seneca Lake, NY. You can look for a location between Watkins Glen and Lodi, NY for a place to call home for a few nights. If you have any questions, please reach out!
CAMERA GEAR
A full list of camera gear will be supplied to upon registering, the basics are a DSLR camera , wide/fast angle lens, a tripod and a cable release. Most gear that is used can be found on the workshop overview page.
DEPOSIT
A non-refundable payment is due to reserve your spot on the trip. If you are a JBP Alumni you receive 20% OFF off admission to this workshop. If you need to cancel for any reason within 4 months of this workshop, you will receive a credit to a future workshop, minus any transaction fees / Cancellation fees. If your spot can be filled after cancelling, a full refund or workshop credit will be issued.

Jeff Berkes Photography reserves the right to make changes to the schedule, dates if need be. We are not responsible for bad weather, delays or cancellations. We are also not responsible for lost or stolen items, injuries, sickness, death or damages to personal equipment and lost of personal travel expense. Failure to comply to park rules, regulations and will result in you being ejected from the workshop.
This workshop does not include travel to, from and during the workshop or overnight sleeping arrangements. Carpooling is encouraged, but not required. Upon our meeting and greet the photographers can discuss carpooling.
ACTIVITY LEVEL
We will be hiking Watkins Glen and Taughannock Falls during this trip. Watkins Glen has a slow and steady increase in elevation. Even with the moderate increase, we are going slow, taking lots of stops to take pictures. Taughannock Falls has two view points, one of which requires less than a 1 mile walk on a level and flat trail. The activity level for this workshop is place from easy to moderate, moderate because of steps and a incline at times in Watkins Glen.
