ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP

This 3 day, 2 night workshop will be held in one of the most sought after locations by night sky photographers. It's rock formations and natural arches are accompanied by dark night skies that make this one special spot for landscape and night sky photographers. We will be up most of the night capturing star trails, timelapse and milky way photographs with a few arches and other rock formations in the park. We will learn how to use our camera's to their maximum potential under a variety of lighting conditions. Simple camera settings can increase your image quality that you may not be aware of.  Many clients tell me that their pictures are ready to print right out of the camera, and that is what we are looking for, great images straight out of the camera. The camera is an amazing tool, and a tool that isn't used to it maximum capability most of the time. This is a great place to utilize our cameras and our imagination. We can also have a great time while doing that.

ARCHES NATIONAL PARKARCHES NATIONAL PARK

Most locations are just beyond the roadside and parking areas. There are other opportunities to hike a bit further if we wish. Light painting is no longer allowed inside Arches National Park. But we will be able to practice some of the techniques at locations outside of the park and at Dead Horse State Park. It is safe to say that we will see other photographers out at night and their headlamps may bleed into some of our shots. Also, Balanced Rock is located right off of the main road and car lights often illuminate the formation while vehicles travel into or out of the park which sometimes illuminate the formation on it's own.

LODGING

We will stay in Moab, UT. I have stayed at the Big Horn Lodge before and it suites me just fine, and I love the look. There are many places to choose from like Comfort Inn, Days Inn, Best Western, Red Stone Inn and many others. Moab is a "happening" little town with lots of places to eat, shops and things to do. You can also camp in the park. If you are interested in camping let me know and I will help you get a site.
