ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP

Grand Teton National Park has some of the most recognizable landscapes in the world. From the beauty of the Teton Range, to the winding depths of the Snake River, and diverse wildlife that roams the park, there is an abundance of photographic opportunities for us to experience here. We will spend 4 days and 3 nights capturing these majestic mountains and stunningly dark skies near Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park.

I am beyond excited to explore these areas with you, and help you learn to master the art of night sky photography.   Like all of our workshops here, much research is taken into consideration, this has had great potential in the past for many amazing photo opportunities. We will start the evening of July 11th at our meet and greet location. We will then head out to photograph sunset and shoot our first milky way location. We typically end shooting around 2am or 3am.

We will we learn how to capture the milky way, star trails, panoramas, time-Lapse video, and use a star tracker to get HD images of the milky way at low ISO's on the best night.

One of the most important things to think about is how you will process your images after you create them. Processing your images is a very important part of photography. Video tutorials are available to you to help with processing your images. If you wish to review images in the field. Please bring your laptop!

This workshop will leave you with a better understanding of the night sky, your camera, yourself, not to mention making some new friends along the way. I look forward to experiencing the endless possibilities of night sky photography in Grand Teton National Park, WY.

NORTHERN LIGHTS

There is a chance, a slim chance, but as chance at northern lights here. With us being close to solar maximum, our chances are slightly higher. We will never know unless we are there!

ABOUT THE MILKY WAY AND MOON

Ahhhhhh, the summer milky way!   That means no waiting around for us once the Sun sets. This time of year the sun set is late and takes a little time for darkness to settle in. From June to November the milky way is rising, or already visible after sunset. Most nights we will end shooting by 2:00am or 3am (depending on weather), but if we are having a great time or another night doesn't look promising, we can opt to shooting longer and modify the schedule to make the most out of our time, day or night. The workshop will have the nearly quarter moon setting a couple hours after sunset giving us the opportunity to photograph night scenes in a variety of lighting conditions.

DURING THE DAY

We will have a mix of night shoots, morning shoots, and sunset shoots each day, some days will have a break in the middle of the day to rest up before out next night out under the stars. If poor weather is expected one night, we will make that up during the day with some extra landscape photography or image editing.
