ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP
This workshop will teach you everything you need to know about how to take great photographs of the milky way, stars and meteor showers. We will also cover star trails, timelapse photography and light painting. The workshop will start at sunset and last into the wee hours in the morning. We typically call it a night around 3:00 am, but if we have poor sky conditions towards the beginning of the workshop, we will shoot later into the night to maximize our shooting experience. There is no shortage of photo locations to shoot from. We will have new locations on each night, both nights will give you the best tour of the island and more subjects to photograph. I will also have a couple star trackers with me for you to use and get some other extremely detailed shots of the milky way and other space objects.

The perseids are one of the best meteor showers to watch and photograph. Warm weather makes this perfect for overnight shooting and relaxation. The moon will set before midnight giving us moonless skies during the peak hours of the meteor shower to capture the brightest and best perseids. Meteors rates are over 100/per hour and never disappoint.

LODGING
Lodging can be found near Ocean City, Maryland or by camping on Assateague Island itself (pictured above). I suggest the Comfort Suites West Ocean City (12718 Ocean Gateway, Ocean City, MD 21842). Reservations book far in advance for camping. You can also car camp in the overflow parking lot if you wish, but these campsites are incredible. I have done it dozens of times, just can't get enough of it! We will be photographing the Maryland District of Assateague.

CAMERA GEAR
A full list of camera gear will be supplied to upon registering, the basics are a DSLR camera , wide/fast angle lens, a tripod and a cable release. Most gear that is used can be found on the workshop overview page.

We are also not responsible for lost or stolen items, injuries, sickness, death or damages to personal equipment and lost of personal travel expense. Failure to comply to park rules, regulations and will result in you being ejected from the workshop.
