ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP
You will have an entire night out under the moon and stars photographing various landscapes, seascapes and other iconic locations with the lunar eclipse as the grand finale at the end of the night. We will meet in the afternoon on August 27th, 2026 to photograph some wildlife, a lighthouse, and some coastal scenery before photographing the almost Total Lunar Eclipse overnight. Timelapse and star trail photography will also be demonstrated and executed during this workshop. You only need 1 camera, although 2 cameras will provide you with more opportunities. A telephoto lens of at least 200mm is best for this workshop, 400 - 600mm will also be optimal. I have photographed many lunar eclipses in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Hawaii, Death Valley, Yellowstone and many other locations, they are truly a magical event to witness and photograph. Some samples images from various locations are shown below. This will be simply stunning to see, and a great way to spend a night out in to wrap up the summer of 2026!

During this workshop the eclipse will start at 9:23pm and it will reach maximum eclipse at 12:12am, Partial ending at 1:50am, and the entire eclipse ending by 3:00am. Maximum eclipse will occur with the moon near the Milky Way, so at maximum eclipse, we will attempt to capture the eclipse with the milky way over the lighthouse!

ABOUT THE MOON AND NIGHT SKY
The moon will be up all night, Full Moon photo ops at sunset on the 27th, overnight. We will photograph the entirety of the eclipse overnight and learn how to create an eclipse progression panoramic during this workshop in addition to timelapse and star trail photography under moonlight. Video tutorials on how to create a eclipse progression is also available to you. This eclipse will last from 9:23pm until 3:00am. We will have a lighthouse or a shipwreck to work with for our wide progression shots.
