"Noctilucent Clouds" or know as "Night Shining" clouds, A.K.A as NLC's were photographed out of a Trans-Atlantic flight to Italy on June 23rd, 2014.
I snapped this picture at 40,000ft when grazing the Artic Circle in route to Italy when the clouds began to glow brighter and appeared much closer, I checked the flight path and noticed we were just off the southern coast of Greenland.

NLC's are generally created in the summer months. The extremely high altitude at which they clouds are visible leads experts to believe they are form from meteor smoke.
